The Precision DMX is a microprocessor based intelligent lighting fixture that can be controlled to generate a wide range of vivid colors. Tunable preset functions allow the user to generate various patterns without complex signaling. A built-in flicker generator can create unique and realistic flame, surge, and lightning effects with ease. Standalone operation is achievable when the fixture is configured with our free DMX Programmer iOS app, making the Precision DMX a fully color and effects tunable floodlight that can operate without signal. The user simply sets the desired look of the Precision DMX with the DMX Programmer iOS app and the output settings will be stored in the fixture’s memory. Afterward, the Precision DMX may be unplugged from DMX signal and simply powered on; the fixture will output according to the stored settings. This is an excellent feature for applications that need a fully configurable light without DMX cabling.
Note: The Precision DMX requires the DarkBox Programmer (sold separately) or the free smart phone app in order to change its address from the default of 1. A single DarkBox Programmer can be used to set the address for all of your Precision DMX lights.
We recommend a 12V5A power supply (sold separately), which can handle up to 16 Precision DMX fixtures.

Note: There is a "dummy" setup that allows you to program the fixture to any color and setting without DMX (such as flicker, strobe, color chase at any speed). after you program the device, you just need to give it power like any standard light but it'll be programmed to do whatever you want. this gives the ULTIMATE flexibility, because not only is it color and brightness adjustable, it's essentially got the flicker module BUILT IN so you can have it do all the modes of the flicker too!
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How can I control multiple lights independently?
A: The DMX512 standard allows lights to be hooked up in daisy chain. Each individually controllable Precision DMX light must have a unique address assigned to it with the DarkBox Programmer.
Q: Can I operate the Precision DMX without the DarkBox Programmer?
A: The Precision DMX address is factory set to 1. If you only need to control 1 light or have all the light controlled in unison on channels 1-7, you will not need the DarkBox Programmer.
Q: Do I need a DarkBox Programmer for each light fixture?
A: No, only ONE (1) DarkBox Programmer is needed for the entire system of Precision DMX lights. The DarkBox Progammer is connected to each Precision DMX fixture, one at a time, to configure their address and settings.
Q: Can I operate the Precision DMX without DMX signal?
A: Yes (as of 7/1/2012)! You will need a DarkBox Programmer (select Program 3) to configure the color, speed, and mode of the Precision DMX. Once configured, the Precision DMX will retain those settings. If there is no active DMX signal, the Precision DMX will output its stored configuration. An active DMX signal will override the pre-configured output.
DMX Channel Details
Channel 1 (Red): 0-255 controls the brightness of the Red channel.
Channel 2 (Green): 0-255 controls the brightness of the Green channel.
Channel 3 (Blue): 0-255 controls the brightness of the Blue channel.
Channel 4 (Color Macro): 32-255 will override the colors of Channels 1-3 with a predefined color.
Channel 5 (Speed): 16-255 will control the blinking speed (if channel 6 < 32) of the current color. If channel 6 is 32 or greater, channel 5 will control the speed of that mode. Lower level corresponds to slow speed and higher level corresponds to faster speed.
Channel 6 (Mode):
32-71: Fade in (channel 1, 2, or 3 needs to be non-zero)
72-111: Fade out (channel 1, 2, or 3 needs to be non-zero)
112-150: Pulsating (channel 1, 2, or 3 needs to be non-zero)
151-190: Smooth color fading
191-230: 3 color cycle
231-249: 6 color cycle
Channel 7 (Dimming): 0-255 controls the overall brightness of the output. Full brightness at 0, output off at 255.
